Massacring Truth

Image result for i am mad as hell and i'm not going to take it anymore

When I saw the first news reports coming out stating that Chris Harper Mercer, the gunman in the Oregon school shootings, ask the victims if they were Christian before he shot them, and that he "singled out Christians", which later information suggest is not true, I thought, "I'll bet when the truth comes out he will be found to be a religious extremist with ties to Christianity".

Of course the implications of these "breaking news" reports is that he must have been an angry atheist, or as many reporters speculated, an Islamic Jihadist. But this is just not typical atheist modus operandi, and an FBI report shows that more than 90% of all terrorist attacks on U.S. soil are committed by non-muslims. Most mass killings in the US have been committed by Christian influenced extremist; but god forbid they print anything that makes Christianity look bad!

The killer also reportedly told his victims he "would see them soon" before he shot them, suggesting that he knew he would not come out alive. And according to a recent report from the DailyMail "People who went to school with the mass murderer also spoke of the chilling drawings of skulls, bones and coffins Mercer would scrawl on his notebooks. He is also alleged to have had a 'manifesto' with the '666' written across it."  Apparently he believed in an afterlife. Sounds more like a Christian influenced Satanist than an atheist!

It is appalling that the Media, in their self aggrandizing efforts will sacrifice integrity and massacre truth in order to be the first to report a story. This is totally irresponsible, and these journalist and publishers should be ashamed of themselves. However in this dog eat dog "success" oriented society this is cavalierly accepted as business as usual. These reporters know that they will be financially rewarded and promoted within the industry if they are the first, or among the first, to get these juicy bones to their News Producers, Editors, or on their blogs. The most sensational and appealing to their readers or viewers (who are mainly Christian) the better...truth be damned!

One of the major consequences of this type of shoddy journalism is that these "breaking news stories" are often the only "news" many people will ever see on the issue, and the impression most likely to form the meme of the event. Many will immediately form inaccurate opinions based upon these irresponsible rushes to judgement.
